June 2010

Advertising
June 29, 2010

Well that's awesome. I just designed and purchased a ton of advertising for OtterFiles.com. We'll see if it works out. I've also put out feelers for some stickers and bought some business cards yesterday. The business cards are because I'm going to need them not just for OtterFiles.com but also because I'm going to need them for everything from school to my personal life. So it'll just be nice to have them. I feel all...professional? Grown up? Yeah. And I'm also all excited to get my hair cut this afternoon. Mostly I'm excited because I actually made the appointment myself. lol. In the past (except for in Mexico, obviously) my mom would always just tell me that she'd made an appointment for me (kinda like a dentist appointment. She still does that to me) and we would go.

The Levi's store at the mall is great and I just realized why. Their stuff (shirts) are actually designed to go with jean. Yes, they mostly pair them with jeans as in pants, but since my wardrobe largely consists of jean skirts I get the same effect. Yes, sometimes the shirts are fairly expensive (I've paid up to $40) and thus out of the range of some people, but you are paying for quality. I have two of their most recent shirts, this really nice white one that you roll the sleeves up on and a pink striped one that's super cute with light blue denim. I always go into that store because I know I'll find something. (Whether or not I should actually buy it is another story. Heh.)

Anyways, this post was mainly to celebrate the new advertising, let you all know it's out there. If you see it, don't click it because they charge me five cents every time. lol. We want new people to click it. ^^

Have a great day everyone!!

Behind the Scenes
June 28, 2010

I'm back. Huzzah. Camp was great, I loved it, went white water rafting, loved that too. Steph and Levi are moved into their apartment, I've got most of the stuff done for missions conference (I still hate, hate, hate the logo) and CS still hasn't come in so I'm sort of at a standstill. Basically, I've finally gotten to the point where I can work on outside projects without feeling guilty about wasting time. I'm watching the Altman's house while they're out of town this week and they've got wireless internet so I've been connecting up there and watching cable at the same time. Truly a relaxing experience.

My parents went out of town for the week so it's just me and the boys fending for ourselves at home. I've got to figure out what we're going to eat because I didn't get a paycheck this week (worked the wrong week, but I'll get it next week) and so only have about $400 to my name at the moment. lol. You'd think I'm used to having just a little bit of money in my account thanks to Mexico but I'm going through this bizarre culture shock where I just have to buy nice stuff whenever I see it and nice stuff costs a lot of money, not to mention the fact that the car I've been driving has absolutely horrendous gas mileage so we're constantly filling it up. Basically, it costs a whole lot more to live in America than I remembered. So I'm calling a boycott on spending until I get my next paycheck. I've lost so much weight in Mexico that my jean skirts are pretty much falling off me.

Speaking of jean skirts, I'm planning another project that deals with modesty on a Biblical level and how to dress that way without looking frumpy. But first I've got to finish the Spanish side of OtterFiles. However, be looking out for that, it's going to be a lot of fun.

After a few weeks of slacking off, there will be a Reality Check this Friday. I've already mostly got it planned out however with things being the way they are, chances are it'll change between now and then.

Thank you all for reading! I appreciate all the comments you leave (and even if you don't leave them, I appreciate the fact that you read the blog. ^^). Take care!

Behind the Scenes (again)
June 18, 2010

I'm marginally famous! I was mentioned on the T-Shirt Review Blog!! Here is the actual post. I had been thrift store shopping with Brittany and found this really awesome shirt so I emailed the guy who runs the blog and asked him if he could possibly find it for me and he did! Well, sort of. He mostly just pointed me in the right direction. I've emailed the designers of the shirt so we'll see if it all pans out. lol.

Uh, yeah, so anyways, haven't done much of anything with the blog this week. Having no internet at the house is really frustrating because I have to stay extra hours at work if I'm going to do any private stuff. I feel guilty using church time to update my own personal things, especially if it's going to take a boatload of time. So yeah, hopefully later on in the summer we'll have internet? I don't know? Really getting annoyed with it all.

Camp is next week which is a good thing except it's really made me have to speed up with all the Missions Conference preparations. The logo was a rush job and it didn't turn out bad but it didn't turn out good either. I don't know. My dad said it was 'good enough' which means, 'yeah, it could have been better but this is the best its going to get'. I hate that. Anyways, it's just the small logo. The banners and faith promise cards will be much better. CS is supposed to come in any day now, I'm about to die if I don't have it here in a few days.

Father's Day is coming up! Hopefully everyone has realized this already and gone out and bought something special for said individual. I still have to get a card for my dad but the main present is bought. Tim, Zach and I all went in together on it so it turned out really cheap for us.

No updates next week, won't be around so don't be expecting anything until the 27th when things will really start getting complicated. Gotta love summer!!

Missions Conference 2010

Behind the Scenes
June 14, 2010

Woot!! Okay! I'm back, finally!! It's been one crazy, crazy, crazy whirlwind of just about EVERYTHING in the last two (it's hard to believe it's only been two) weeks. I graduated, said goodbye to everyone (I'm still smarting from that), moved back to Maryland, watched my sister get married and spent like, $80,000,000 in the process because weddings are so expensive these days (I'm just going to elope so I and my friends don't have to go into debt). I also have acquired two things that have been on my wish list for several months now. The first one being Adobe Photoshop CS which the church is buying for me because I'm going to be doing all of the graphic design for anything we need. So brochures, invitations, cards, fliers, etc, are all going to be designed by me from here on out. It hasn't come in yet but we just ordered it on Friday so that's not really surprising. The second thing I bought (which I bought for myself) is a Clarisonic (Clarisonic.com) which I've heard absolutely amazing things about so going to try it out. Apparently it's just about the best thing ever and I'm sick and tired of breaking out along my jaw line. The only other big thing I'm going to buy this year is a guitar and that'll be the end of my wish list. None of these things are needs, I'll admit that, I've just been very, very blessed with a steady job and for the last four years I've been saving money like a scrooge and now I want to spend some. lol. I've also got to get a car here sometime in the future but I don't really want to go into debt that bad so I'm going to save up until I have a fairly substatial down payment before I open that can of worms. lol.

I'm updating from church because my dad cut off the internet at the house. Eventually we'll wear him back down and get it back but until then I'll either be here or at the library.

As I said, new things are going to start happening around here. I'm actually, as soon as I'm done here, going to go start working on the Spanish side of OtterFiles. It's going to be a whole new blog with different posts, updated at the same time. I have this fear of losing my Spanish and need to practice it every chance I get, thus, Spanish OtterFiles.

Love y'all! Thanks for being so faithful, apparently I have more readers than I had expected which is cool. Keep watching this space, we're going to be changing a lot over the next three months!
